French sneaker brand Veja makes its sneakers from organic cotton and sustainably-harvested rubber purchased from cooperatives in Brazil. They pay higher prices for materials labour, which means their shoes cost 3-4 times more to produce than their competitors. To still be able to sell at the same price, Veja never spends money on advertising and cut other unnecessary costs wherever they can. The shoes are transported by boat from Brazil and the shoe box is made of recycled cardboard - good for both the price and the environment. Production runs are limited and advance orders are only taken 6 months ahead of delivery.
